This is a group for residents interested, involved and/or concerned about Central Brixton; in particular issues around the new Brixton Central Square, overall environmental quality, transportation, drugs exclusion zone, drug-dealing, other crime and anti-social behaviour. We try to influence Lambeth Council, the GLA, MPS and other instruments of the State to improve the quality of life for all the people of Brixton.
Most of our participants live in the area bounded by Rushcroft, Railton, Dulwich and Effra Roads, but of course anybody who cares about making Brixton a better place to live is welcome to join in.

Brixton Town Centre Forum
The Forum is a membership based organisation for people living, working and using the central area of Brixton. It provides a place for sharing information, coordinating plans, and activities, for representing and consulting people, and discussing and monitoring problems and initiatives that affect the Brixton area.
We usually hold bimonthly meetings in Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept, Dec at 7pm at the Karibu Centre at 7 Gresham Road, London, SW9 7PH. Please check the Meetings & Agenda page here. We welcome members and non-members.
Brixton town centre is the focus of many specific and inter-related challenges as well as a wide range of efforts to try and address problems and make progress. At times there have been issues around whether these are always targeted most effectively, joined up to best effect or could benefit from the input of different types of people and users. The Forum benefits from and draws together a range of previous community and council initiatives and seeks to learn from and build upon them.
The members of the Committee that run the Forum are:
John Gordon, Chair
Karin Christiansen, Vice-Chair
Nicola Barker, Secretary

Resident group linked informally by email to come together on local concerns in Maley Ave, Avenue Park Rd, Elmcourt Rd and Thurlow Park Rd. Major issues are keeping Tulse Hill station nuisance free and safe, monitoring progress on the building of the Elmgreen School, keeping a check on the station yard and road narrowing on South Circular. Also, come together on planning applications that are contentious.

The Livesey Museum for Children has been run successfully for 34 years by Southwark Council. It catered for 18,000 visitors a year in a deprived area. It was much loved and ran on a shoestring, but the Council closed it down with very little notice on 29 Feb 2008. The Friends is a newly constituted group, set up to challenge the Council's decision and to propose to take on the trust to run the Museum for the community.
