Long Ashton School Crisis

We are a group of concerned parents who live in Long Ashton, Bristol. Our two local schools are oversubscribed, and the only solution is for our four-year olds to catch taxis to schools further afield. We're lobbying for more school places in the village. We hope our blog will act as a source to inform everyone about our progress. We also hope you will join this online social group, so others can see the support for this cause.

Freecycle Bristol

The worldwide Freecycle Network is made up of individual groups across the globe.

It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving stuff for free. Each group is run by local volunteer moderators.

Membership is free.

One rule: everything posted must be free. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, toys or an old door. Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself? Respond to the posting directly and you just might get it. After that it is up to the giver to set up a time for passing on the treasure.

Bristol Wireless

Bristol Wireless is a social enterprise committed to social improvement through the building of a wireless computer network. We promote freely distributable and alterable software by providing training, support and advocacy. By providing community networks that are free to use, we can grant access to the internet and provide an outlet for locally-focused and created multimedia content. Environmental sustainability is key to our philosophy; wherever appropriate, we use reused or recycled equipment.

Bristol Respect Coalition

The Respect coalition was founded from the anti-war movement when 2 million people marched on the streets in 2003 and there was no-one to represent them politically.

We are now the only viable left alternative to New Labour's march to the right.

We aim to represent the working class majority and push forward an agenda that will benefit the many not just the wealthy.

We stand for Respect, Equality, Socialism, Peace, Environment, Community and Trade Unionism.

The Respect Coalition in Bristol is involved in many local campaigns including Stop the War, Unite aganst Fascism, Love Music Hate Racism, anti-privatisation of the NHS schools or other public services, Defending Assylum Seekers and Student campaigns.
