Ahimsa is a Community House that promotes personal liberty in a socially responsible and ecologically sustainable framework. Ahimsa encourages participation in all aspects of community life, including cultural, educational, political and social. Located adjacent to West End State School in Horan St, West End, Ahimsa facilitates participation in creating a living community by providing space for community events and classes, and hosting public meetings and events. Ahimsa hosts regular classes and workshops in art, dance, martial arts, self development, yoga and relaxation. Ahimsa also houses a number of local businesses including Zapata's Bookshop, Risk Divas Production Company, Locomotive Remedial Massage and is the co-ordinating centre for the annual West End Festival and West End Neighbourhood News publication. Ahimsa has a cafe bar and full kitchen facilities due for completion in August 2005. Ahimsa has function space available for hire.
